Intellectual Property
Business rely on bright ideas
Think about the brand and an eye-catching design
The IP law is to stop people violating your own ideas
4 different areas within the IP law- trade marks, design rights, patents, copyrights
Trade marks- they are used by business to protects their brand across the EU, a name , a logo or both
Every 10 years you need to renew your trade mark
Copy right automatically resists you don’t have to apply for it
If you share something with somebody else and is already copyrighted then they join you in that copyright
Design rights aren't expensive, they cover the UK and abroad
If you invent a new product you should think abut patents
Patents can last up to 20 years, it can be a tricky and expensive
It may be complicated but its worth seeking professional advice

Freedom of information act

Data protection act
The DPA is a UK law which is a law that forces you to follow 8 principles
Each week 4000 pieces of our information is stored in around 1000 different places each week
The data requires the customers consent if its passed around
It should only been kept for the reason it was collected
It should only been kept for as long as it’s needed
It should always be kept available to the customer
It should be processed clearly within the UK

Copy right 1988

It originally only was to do with big movie makers

You will not be able to revise from such a basic post with so much missing. This needs completing during the Blog Monday session you are attending.
